Waterpark College Secondary School

The brief for this project called for a 1700 sq meter extension to the existing school building which was built circa 1939 and is now a protected structure, along with a new multi-purpose sports centre.

The full range of architectural services were required along with professional services from other disciplines such as, structural engineers, services engineers and quantity surveying, all of which were coordinated by the Architects.

While this project has been competed for a few years now, the recent photographs show that the design continues to provide good quality spaces for the students and staff of the college. The robust construction and finishes together with plenty of naturally lit spaces provide a pleasant learning and working environment for all.

City Centre Professional Offices

This project involved the conversion of a former mid terraced residence to professional offices. The brief called for a series of well lit comfortable spaces where both clients and staff could conduct their business in a relaxed environment.

While not a protected structure, conservation techniques were adopted so as to best preserve the building for its new use, together with modifications to achieve compliance with planning conditions, disabled access, fire safety, space heating and cooling and client-specific requirements.

The full scale of professional services were provided, together with fire safety engineering provided by G. M. Sexton and Associates, structural engineering by Tomas O’Donoghue, Archeological investigations by David Pollock of Archeografix and interior design by Anne Carroll.

Construction of the project was executed in eight months by J. Murphy and Sons and interior fit out was completed by Penn Products.

WIT Spar Shop

Provision of a "SPAR" convenience store within the existing main Campus Building, which involved the removal of an existing ‘tuck shop’ and complete remodelling of the space to form the new convenience store.

The careful selection of materials and colour was an important aspect of the brief, as to add to the already plentiful palette at the campus may have somewhat cluttered the area.

Health and safety issues associated with working in a 'live' environment and a very tight timescale were also important factors of the brief.
